I guess you could say I decided not to exercise during the first two-ish weeks of my vacation, or you could say that timing and events decided for me. I arrived in sunny, Panama City last Monday, December 14th. I had no intention of exercising that day; I was jet lagged and eager to see and spend time with all my friends and family I've been missing the past four months. Monday passed as a rest day and I had every intention to work out at the gym on Tuesday. Then my boyfriend and I didn't make it to that part of town so I didn't. Wednesday came and went and I realized that was my third day sans-exercise. I became a little anxious of it and then I saw an opportunity.
I could find a way to exercise. Instead of browsing the web while my boyfriend paints I could be sweating it out on the mat. I could do pilates on the beach. I could take the expensive cab ride to the gym. But why go out of my way to do those things when I will be right back at them as soon as I'm home? I couldn't come up with a good enough answer or justification to validate my vacation revolving around exercise. So I thought I'd take advantage of these weeks without traditional fit activity to introduce a new concept.
The purpose of Project Bikini Body Break Up is to document the physical changes, or rather lack there of, that I expect to see in my figure. If you follow my Instagram @healthyezsweet you can see from my pictures what my physical state was before leaving for vacation and exercising regularly. So you ca be the judge of whether this two or so week hiatus has "ruined my progress". I don't think it will. I intend to prove to my disordered past, and everyone who's reading along that it's okay to skip workouts. It's okay to rest. The second purpose of Project Bikini Body Break Up is to share all the amazing things that can happen when you're not exercising. All the life and love and joy that happens outside the gym.
Instead of exercising I....
Enjoyed an amazing book while overlooking the city from a hammock on my balcony. Talk about a peaceful way to start the day.
Spent time with my boyfriend who I only see a few months out of the year.
Shared a pint of Ben & Jerry's while starting The Walking Dead
Made a new friend at a street café (Baby Relic's future little sis!?)
Enjoyed a night out with my man :)
If we don't take a moment to deviate from our routines, slow down, and enjoy it- we could miss out on some pretty damn special moments.
