I know Friday's are usually for going out, dining out, and bumping out dance moves (no? just me?) but today I'm going to share with you my favorite, gluten free market finds for when you're eating in, and want to enjoy your meal as much as you would if you were feasting at the Hard Rock. In the months following my Celiac diagnosis I haven't always been perfect about maintaining my gluten free diet, but these gluten free grocery goods make it easy and enjoyable for me to get back on track and keep my gut happy.
~Healthyezsweet's Favorite Gluten Free Goodies~
1) Udi's Blueberry Muffins If the cookie monster had a cousin who was an absolute mongrel for muffins, that would be me. Something about eating a personalized cake in the shape of a planet really does it for me. I'm not going to say that these GF muffins taste like the real deal because they don't; they're better. You can expect fresh blueberries, moist vanilla cake, and sugar crystal coated muffin tops. And as far as GF products go, $6 for four of these babies is pretty reasonable. |
2) Glutino Pretzel Twists Alright I'm not really sure what I can say to convince you that you definitely want to get your hands on this bag other than it's...you know...a bag of really good pretzels. The thing is these are perfectly salted so that your mouth doesn't feel like the So Cal drought and you can fully enjoy the crunch and savor that you want out of a pretzel twist. |
3) Udi's Cinnamon Raisin Bread I'm actually a fan of all the Udi's breads that I've tried, but the Cinnamon Raisin is my favorite flavor. It toasts beautifully and its texture is pretty similar to that of regular bread. I never appreciated Udi's truly until I tried this small scale paleo bread buried in the back of my market's fridge section. I've never spit something out so quickly. Udi's thanks for saving the game. And by the game I mean my mouth. |
4) Nutiva Hemp Protein in vanilla I'm not a protein powder buff who powers though two bars and two shakes a day like I used to be (thank god because that was wrecking my digestive health) but I do recommend this GF supplement and here's why: there's no whey, no casein, no animal products of any kind AKA no animal products to be synthetically modified and artificially processed. This vegan, GF powder is made from hemp and although it doesn't have as much protein per serving as something like Quest or Cellucor, I guarantee you'll feel better after enjoying it. Don't go replacing all your whole, necessary food sources with shakes and protein powdered oats, but if you do chose to use a protein powder occasionally, this one will never make you bloated, gassy, irritable, or pained. |
5) Snyder's of Hanover GF pretzels in Honey Mustard & Onion and Hot Buffalo Wings One more pretzel pick to throw at you because in my opinion they are tied with Glutino for making the the best bowl of posh pretzels. The first flavor of Synder's GF line that I tried and fell in love with were the Hot Buffalo Wings. As a former Hooters Girl I can assure you that this flavor is the real deal. Like so real that I would bring them to work and me and my girls would sit in our orange shorts eating Buffalo Wing Pretzels because we didn't want to use our employee meals yet for actual wings. Same diff. |
6) Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Muesli I love sprinkling this on yogurt, smoothies, or in a milk bath. There's a lot of variance in the texture which is different from most granolas / muesli I've tried. The oats are chewy while the rice puffs are crunchy and light. I also really enjoy the dried fruit element. |
7) Annie's SnickerDoodle Cinnamon Sugar GF Bunny Cookies For those of you who love bite-size treats for dessert I'd highly recommend picking up a box of Annie's bunny cookies. These remind me of everything I like about a graham cracker only less dry and more sweet. Plus I've heard the GF vanilla & cocoa bunnies are a hit as well. Take your pick and hop to it. |
8) Karma Baker Karma Cakes I sincerely hope you read all the way to the bottom of this list, because I saved the best for last. One day I happened into an Erewhon market to satisfy my craving for something sweet and trendy. For those of you unfamiliar with Erewhon markets, they're a Whole Foods/Sprouts type experience that stocks vegan, GF paradise picks by the shelf and invites you to make it yours for outrageous prices. After conceding to spend some serious cash for my desired dessert I saw these two, large, hostess looking cupcakes and I quickly made them mine. At home I soon discovered that I'd selected the most dense, fudgey, moist cupcake with an incredibly creamy, rich, chocolate icing yet somehow it had none of the common allergens on its label. Needless to say I was and am extremely impressed by the Karma Baker and love indulging in her sweets whenever the craving comes a callin'. You can most likely find her baked goods at your local, health food store, but just in case I'll link her website here. |
Thanks for giving my GF goodies a gander and I hope you found something new to try and love!
