I only had two nights and three days this time, but I made the most of my eats and treats (duhhh!) Didn’t work out the first day because I picked my mom and Cousin Anna up at the airport at 7 AM and we spent the rest of the day visiting and driving to the resort and I made a point of not making definitive plans about exercising while my mom’s in town. The second morning, however, I woke up way earlier than my boyfriend and my family so I decided to hit the gym with some TIU! I took the workout directly from the free weekly schedule online and had a blast.
Thursday 8/27] Bikini Arms + 5 Minute Ab Workout + 10 min spin
Bikini Arms] x1
- I really enjoyed doing this routine at the gym, because it allowed me to alternate the weight of the dumbbells per each exercise (if needed). At home I only have 5s and I like being able to challenge myself and lift as heavy as possible
- Overall this was one of my favorite TIU routines to date. The 12 different exercises are pretty varied from dumbbell presses to body weight tricep dips so I was never bored halfway through any of the reps
- My favorite exercises of this routine were the upright rows to tricep extension and tricep push up to plank opener. I love rows because I really enjoy building up my shoulder muscles, and adding the tricep work in between the rows was a fun combo. The tricep push up to plank opener was a favorite as well because I generally struggle with back to back tricep push ups, and adding the plank opener between reps allowed me to perform the push ups stronger and also stretched my obliques!
- The most challenging exercise was the forearm plank to high plank AKA the up-up-down-down. These really take it out of me but I know they're amazing for building shoulder muscles and core strength. When I do them with burpees, like in my Total Body Burpee Ball Blitz, I really feel the burn and cardio crush!
Overall ratings]
Difficulty (how hard to catch breath): 4/10
Skill level (beginner, medium, advanced): medium
Engaging/entertaining or Repetitive? (1 being boring and 10 being the most fun): 7
Am I likely to repeat this WO often? Yes.
5 Minute Ab Workout x3
- love love love the rhythm of this workout and really enjoyed the new moves I learned like the starfish crunch. I did 3 rounds and by the end my abs felt lean and mean
- The types of moves in this routine are mainly crunches, plank. and twists - classic ab tightening moves
- My favorite exercise in this series was the oblique slimmers. Like I said before I love the oblique stretchin' feeling
- The most challenging exercise for me was definitely the star fish crunches. They took me the longest to complete as well because I wasn't used to balancing on my tail bone with all limbs flexed off the ground and then tightening into a ball without lowering my legs.

After this workout I wrapped my blonde locks up in a messy bun - or "put the ball on" as my boyfriend likes to say - and slipped into my bikini for breakfast followed by pool time with the fam! Hope you guys enjoyed reading about this workout and again if you're a TIU-er PLEASE let me know in the comments so we can connect! |
