Sometimes these types of feelings get the best of us.
Sometimes we swallow so much pain and responsibility until our stomachs are ready to burst.
And then they do and it feels...awful. On those days I hope you'll remember these nine, simple pleasures and that the best is yet to come. That exam that is driving you mad with anxiety will end. Your heart will heal. Don't give up on yourself and don't forget all the amazing things life has to offer. I made the mistake of doing that. Read all the way to the bottom if you're interested in how I lost it at work and somehow found myself where I always do. But first, check out these things that make life too sweet to miss out on.
My meltdown....
I was kind at first as I explained that children's meals are generally made before anything else because the kitchen assumes that kids are more impatient (but apparently their stuck up moms are too). Next, her husband demanded a reason why the man next to him got his eggs before he did. Starting to lose my patience, I explained that the meat in his eggs cooks faster than the meat the man ordered. That's when soccer mom went off on me again, attacking me personally this time. That's when I clenched my teeth, cut her off, and said, "Look. I am doing the best that I can. I'm not in the kitchen so I have zero control over what they cook when. All I can do is bring it to you as soon as it's ready. Which is what I'm doing."
I bet you can guess what happened next. Mom complains to my manager. And my manager, stressed out from his own stuff, starts to lecture me. Hard. This isn't the first time I've made a mistake and gotten called out, and it won't be the last. But this time the combination of the god-awful woman, my manager's misplaced anger, and the 10 other things that had been plaguing me this week made me snap.
I started bawling. At work.
There's too many amazing things I've yet to experience. There's so many I am experiencing now. A bad day, week, or even month is not indicative of your future.
So put on that old song that makes you smile. Cuddle up in your coziest comforter. Remember that happy moments are yours for the taking.
